Mayor’s Office

Responsibilities

The Mayor's Office is the executive branch of the Mayor / Council form of government. The Mayor's office and staff oversee:

• The enforcement of all laws and policies
• Hiring of executive employees
• Performance of numerous other duties as prescribed by law
• Recommendation for adoption of measures necessary for the efficient operation of the City

All City-related correspondence is considered public record.

About Mayor Doug Hammond

Mayor Doug Hammond was re-elected to serve a four-year term starting in January, 2022. Mayor is married to Marquita ( Merrell) and both enjoy time with their children and grandchildren. He strives to make Vernal City one of the most desirable places to work, play and raise a family.
