Each person seeking to run for office must file a Declaration of Candidacy Form or Nomination Petition in person with the City Recorder’s Office between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. during the candidate filing period.
Candidates may file remotely or through a designated agent if the individual is located outside of the state during the entire filing period.
A Nomination Petition may be used to nominate someone. The petition must have signatures from 25 registered voters. If a candidate will not be in Vernal during the filing period, call the City Recorders Office at 435-789-2255 for instructions to complete your Declaration of Candidacy.
A Vernal City Municipal Election will be held to elect 3 Council members . The term of office will be four-years starting January, 2024.
